Brush, Floss, Rinse.

When it comes to dental health it is the daily habits that make or break the health and longevity of our teeth and gums. It just takes 3 simple steps, twice daily, to look after your teeth and gums, all of which should take around four minutes to achieve.

What is the point? Why are we brushing our teeth twice daily?

The main reason is to remove dental plaque, as we eat throughout the day, we accumulate dental plaque on our teeth which makes them feel furry. Plaque is acidic by nature and damages tooth enamel. It is also pro inflammatory and causes your gums to bleed if not removed correctly.

At :Dsmile, we understand it is confusing to know what you should be buying to look after your teeth. After 20 years of treating patients, our Dsmile dental professionals keep this simple by designing our own easy as 1, 2, 3 oral health care ritual for you to follow.

Step 1. Brush :D

Our toothbrushes are ergonomically designed with soft bristles to gently remove plaque and stop you from causing damage to your teeth and gums. Aim to gently brush your teeth for two minutes, keeping the bristles half on the tooth and half on the gum line. Our fluoride containing toothpaste consists of nonabrasive ingredients that aim to reduce tooth sensitivity and prevent decay. Using a small pea size of toothpaste is all that is required.

Step 2. Floss :D

We know from clinical experience that our patients find flossing the hardest part of the regime to commit too. Anecdotally we have been told that only 5% of the population floss daily! To break down the barriers we have spent time creating a floss that is non frustrating to use, as it glides easily   through the teeth. It is also slightly wider to catch more plaque. Unfortunately, your toothbrush does not get in between your teeth, if plaque gets trapped in these areas it can cause decay or your gums to bleed.

Step 3. Rinse :D

Mouth rinse is an adjunct to brushing and flossing not the main performer. We advise to use a small amount of mouth rinse for 30 seconds to complete your clean to flush any remaining food debris out of your mouth, and leave you feeling fresh. As we understand everyone likes different intensities in a mouth rinse, ours comes in a concentrate so you can make it to your liking.
